Baked tuna falafels

Falafel is a dish that always appeal to me especially since i discovered pinterest  and found tons of wonderful recipe . Unfortunately  never walk by a restaurant that serves Falafels  so i decided to try this recipe at home.  Al thought Falafels are originally deep fried  i baked mine for a healthier version but still packed of flavors. In this recipe i added tuna but it can be removed for a vegetarian version . As a sauce i made a garlic coriander sauce that is really tasty , made in seconds and can be served with other dishes such as grilled meat or fish.

Baked tuna falafelIngredients:

Serves 2:

For the falafels:

*1 tin of canned chickpeas

*1 small tin of tuna in brine

*2 garlic cloves

*1/2 cup of fresh coriander

*1 small onion

*1 tsp of cumin

*1 tsp of chilli flake

*1 tbsp of lemon juice

*1 tsp of baking powder

For the sauce:

*3 tbsp of mayonnaise

*1tbsp of olive oil

*2 tbsp of water

*2 garlic cloves

*1/3 cup cup of coriander

*1/2 tbsp of lemon juice


1.Place all the falafels ingredients in a food processor and blend until smooth, place into a bowl and place in the fridge for 30 minutes.

2.In the food processor place all the sauce ingredients and blend for a minutes , season with salt ,pepper  and keep in the fridge.

3.Preheat the oven at 180 degrees Celsius.

4.Once the falafel mix is rested , shape by hand 8 to 10 ball shape that you will place on an oiled roasting tray . With your hand flaten the falafel to 2 cm high and bake for 15 minute turning halfway through cooking.

5.Serve on a bed of salad or in a pitta bread with the garlic and coriander sauce.
