Irish soda bread

St Patrick’s day being only a few weeks away i decided to post another traditional Irish recipe . This Irish household staple is made in minutes and the fact that the recipe contains buttermilk adds some extra richness to the hearty bread .

Makes  loaf

*450 grs of plain flour

*1 tsp of salt

*1 tsp of bicarbonate of soda

*400 ml of buttermilk

1.In a mixing bowl combine all dry ingredients before gradually adding the buttermilk.

2.Once the mixture forms into a dough , place on a floured worktop and shape into a round loaf .

3.Place the dough on a baking tray , with a knife slash the traditional X in the middle of the loaf and bake in a preheated oven 30 minutes at 220 degrees Celsius.
